The Animal Kingdom

The animal Kingdom

Mice running in the fields
where berries grow for them to eat
running along the stalks and stems
creeping silently on little feet
avoiding snakes in the dry heat

In the animal kingdom
everything is a tasty treat
they must always be on guard
for everything smells deceit
nervously watching every move
their strength, they try to prove

Animals of every kind
to survive they must take a chance
they are all victims of circumstance
no such thing as coexistence

An alligator hiding under swamp slime
catches its prey with its powerful jaw
It's all death in due time
and it will not withdraw

Eerie at night, no different by day
birds take flight when they see
hyenas stalking their prey
they may be laughing, but it isn't play

who will be next on the food chain
always the weakest and the lame
who will lose and who will gain
an endless cycle that will continue to remain

What I find interesting, is that when The Second Lady organized this universe she used a basic template that applied to everyone / everything including events.

there is no peace and love for each other in the animal kingdom. diversity only means a variety of meat for the meal.
